After your initial inquiry Thien-Kim will present her portfolio and discuss your requirements and questions about your portrait. She will assist you in choosing the subject’s clothing, pose and setting. Thien-Kim will work step by step with you to insure that your painting will be a work of fine art as well as a classic portrait.
A photography session, lasting about two hours, will be scheduled at your convenience. Occasionally, especially with small children, a second session may be needed. Together, you select photographs that will be used as reference material for the painting. Occasionally several photographs are combined to form the pose.
The artist will also need to have a painting session with you, lasting about three to four hours, scheduled at your convenience. This is the time the artist could get to know you more so that she could reflect your features and personality in the portrait.
At her studio, Thien-Kim will do preliminary, full scale, black and white line drawings of up to two poses. A small color sketch may be included for large oil paintings. With your approval, she begins the painting on fine portrait canvas. She uses the finest professional materials available to assure that your portrait will be heirloom quality.
Final consultations will be made with the client for any minor adjustments required. This may be done by sending photographs if the client is some distance away.
Although framing is not included in the price of the portrait, Thien-Kim will be happy to advise you about framing.
